  • Cutting Back: 41% of Americans—and 61% of Gen Z—want to reduce their drinking. Like the California sober trend, it's about creating a healthier relationship with substances.

  • The Trend: Mocktails and non-alcoholic beers are booming. Sales of non-alcoholic drinks have jumped 30% annually, projected to hit nearly $1 billion soon.

  • Not Totally Sober: 68% of those reducing alcohol still drink occasionally, and 93% who buy non-alcoholic options also purchase alcohol.

Gupta adds: Fully quitting may be ideal (the myth of healthy moderate drinking is debunked), but cutting back is a solid step. Just be aware—many "non-alcoholic" drinks still contain 0.5% alcohol and other unhealthy ingredients.
