No Booze News 📈:

Formula 1 is exploding with non-alcholic sponsorship

Formula One racing has long been associated with big-name beer brands. But with a growing market for non-alcoholic beverages and increasing scrutiny on alcohol advertising, the sport is seeing a shift.

Recent partnerships between McLaren and Ferrari with Estrella Galicia 0.0% and Peroni Libera 0.0% highlight this trend.

These deals are strategic for both sides.

  • Non-alcoholic brands gain access to F1's young and health-conscious audience, aligning themselves with the excitement of the sport.

  • For F1, these sponsorships cater to a growing global market and address restrictions in countries like Bahrain and Abu Dhabi, where alcohol consumption is prohibited.

Dutch manufacturer Heineken has held this global sponsorship position since 2016, most recently signing a five-year contract extension in 2023 worth US$250 million, according to sponsorship analytics platform Luscid.

While sponsoring the races, Heineken also promotes responsible drinking with their "When You Drive, Never Drink" campaign.

Experts believe Formula 1 is an ideal platform for non-alcoholic beers. The combination of high-octane racing and health-conscious sponsorship creates a powerful message, particularly for a younger generation of fans.

This shift reflects a broader cultural trend towards healthier lifestyles and a booming non-alcoholic beverage market. Formula One, by adapting to this landscape, of course benefits alongside the beverage companies.

Lewis Hamilton suffers for several days when drinking, so he stopped.

Lewis Hamilton is a racing legend. He's widely considered one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers ever. Nicknamed "King Lewis," he holds the record for most career wins and is tied for the most driver's championships with a staggering seven titles. His journey from childhood karting champion to F1 dominance is an inspiring story of talent, perseverance, and breaking barriers as the first Black driver to win the world championship.

What is also inspiring is the fact that Lewis has made the decision to quit drinking, as he is personally very interested in the sober-curious movement.

In an interview with Vogue, Lewis had two quotes that really sounded like he was speaking from the lens of a Proofer.

"I'll suffer for several days—sometimes it'll be like three or four days," he admitted. "I’ve always been looking for how do you get that extra 1%? As an athlete, that’s what you are always doing."

"Since I’ve stopped drinking, I’ve just been feeling so much better, so much more clarity. I sleep better, I wake up in the morning and I can still get up at 5 a.m.”

Lewis is a fellow Proofer through and through as he has not only made the decision to step away from alcohol, but he has also been so inspired by the sober curious movement that he has gone ahead and created a non-alcoholic tequila brand named Almave. It is his way of giving back to the community and providing something we haven’t seen yet.

Wait, but why? 🤔:

Why is it common to have a ‘nightcap’ before bed?

We've all heard of the nightcap - a bedtime drink to unwind after a long day. But where did this tradition even come from?

Believe it or not, the term "nightcap" originally referred to a literal cap worn to bed.. Over time, it evolved to describe the last drink of the evening, which can be traced back to literature as far as the early 1800’s.

While a nightcap might seem like a perfect way to de-stress before sleep, there's a catch. Alcohol, despite its initial sedative effects, disrupts sleep cycles later in the night. You might fall asleep faster, but you'll experience fragmented sleep and wake up feeling tired.

So, the nightcap's promise of a good night's sleep is actually a paradox. In reality, it hinders the very thing we seek from it. Perhaps a relaxing cup of previously highlighted Proofer Product Beam Dream or a calming bedtime routine would be a more effective way to unwind and ensure a truly restful sleep.

Skip the nightcap and embrace a sleep-supportive routine instead - your body will thank you for it!

Healthy Habit 🌱:

Power up your day with power napping: The habit you didn't know you needed

Ever feel sluggish after lunch? Dragging through that afternoon slump? Enter the power nap, a simple yet surprisingly effective healthy habit that can transform your day.

What is a power nap?

Unlike weekend lie-ins, a power nap is a short, targeted sleep session. Aiming for 20-30 minutes, it allows you to cycle through the first two stages of sleep without entering deep sleep, which can leave you feeling groggy.

Why power up with a nap?

Here's the magic: power naps offer a wealth of benefits:

  • Enhanced alertness and focus: Studies show napping can significantly improve cognitive function, reaction time, and memory consolidation. Say goodbye to afternoon brain fog!

  • Boosted mood and reduced stress: A quick nap can leave you feeling refreshed and more positive, helping you tackle the rest of your day with renewed vigor.

  • Improved physical health: Napping can even lower blood pressure and improve cardiovascular health.

How to nap like a pro:

Ready to incorporate power napping into your routine? Here's how:

  • Schedule it strategically: Aim for your nap after lunch, typically when energy levels dip.

  • Create a sleep-conducive environment: Dim the lights, find a quiet space, and wear an eye mask if needed.

  • Set an alarm: Don't risk oversleeping! A timer ensures you wake up feeling refreshed, not disoriented.

  • Ease back into action: Avoid jumping straight back into work. Take a few minutes to stretch and wake up gently.

Power naps are a simple yet powerful tool to elevate your well-being. So, ditch the extra cup of coffee and give napping a try. Your body and mind will thank you!

Almave: The first non-alcoholic blue agave spirit

Keeping on the Lewis Hamilton theme, we wanted to highlight his tequila brand, Almave. We are sure you will love it.

From Lewis himself:
“I am thrilled to introduce you to Almave. I’ve always loved a good tequila, but on days or nights when I needed a clear mind - either the night before a race or while hanging with friends- I could not find an authentic non-alcoholic option that delivered on the premium quality and experience of my favorite full-proof tequilas. And so began a relentless pursuit to create a non-alcoholic spirit that does not compromise on authenticity or quality.

So I sought out the best in the business, Casa Lumbre Master Distiller Iván Saldaña - a visionary who pushed beyond the boundary of what people thought was possible in agave spirits. We wanted to honor the soul of tequila, adapting time-honored techniques to create a complex spirit that was true to the taste and traditions of Jalisco.”

Event Spotlight 🏎️:

The unexpected benefits of race car driving

We aren’t here to tell you are going to be the next Lewis Hamilton… but we are also not here to say you can’t be.

Have you ever watched a Formula 1 race and started to feel a surge of adrenaline? Maybe you dream of piloting a sleek machine around a winding track, pushing the limits of speed and control.

But race car driving is about more than just a thrill ride. It can be surprisingly beneficial, honing your skills and boosting your confidence in ways you might not expect. That is why this weeks Event Spotlight is driving race cars… safely.

Why? (i.e. the benefits):

Sharpen Your Focus:

Behind the wheel of a race car, distractions fall away. Your mind becomes laser-focused on the track, the car's feedback, and the ideal racing line. This intense concentration translates to sharper focus in everyday life, whether you're tackling a work presentation or navigating rush hour traffic.

Build Mental Toughness:

Racing is a mental game as much as a physical one. Drivers strategize, make split-second decisions, and stay calm under pressure. These skills translate to real-world challenges, teaching you to stay composed and think clearly when the going gets tough.

Boost Your Reflexes:

Race car driving demands lightning-fast reactions. You'll learn to anticipate situations and react instinctively, improving your hand-eye coordination and overall agility. This translates to increased safety and confidence on the road, even in your everyday car.

Experience the Thrill:

Let's be honest, race car driving is exhilarating! It's a safe and controlled environment to experience the rush of speed and the satisfaction of pushing your limits. This surge of adrenaline can leave you feeling energized and happy, a welcome break from the daily grind.

Ready to Take the Wheel?

Race car driving isn't just for professionals. Many tracks offer introductory courses and experiences designed for everyday people. These programs provide expert instruction, safety gear, and a chance to get behind the wheel of a real race car.

So, if you're looking for a challenge, a thrill, or a way to improve your skills, consider giving race car driving a try. You might surprise yourself with what you discover, both on the track and off.
