Inches to Miles - Athletic Brewing releases second documentary
America’s favorite (and maybe even Zero Proof’s) non alcoholic brewery is at it again!
Athletic Brewing Company is back with a new documentary, Inches to Miles, which, if your reading this newsletter is 110% guaranteed to inspire you.

Inches to Miles follows three inspiring athletes on their grueling journey to compete in an Ironman triathlon, which Athletic Brewing began sponsoring as the Official Non-Alcoholic Beer provider globally in 2022.
This powerful film explores the themes of community, perseverance, and the mental and physical challenges that come with achieving audacious goals.
The documentary is the second installment, after Journey to 100, in Athletic Brewing's commitment to storytelling that celebrates the athletic spirit and defies expectations of what "non-alcoholic" can mean.

Mel Robbins on how your changes don’t inspire other people, they confront them

Mel Robbins is a powerhouse podcaster known for her straight-shooting advice and relatable humor in The Mel Robbins Podcast.
Twice a week, she delivers motivation and actionable tips to help you overcome challenges and create a better life.
Whether you're looking for a confidence boost or practical strategies to break through roadblocks, Mel's got your back. She also has a very interesting take on the impact your changes have on others.
“If somebody is confronted by your change, it’s because your change is making them think about what they’re doing or not doing in their own life. It’s easier for them to attack you or to get you to change your behavior than to take a look in the mirror and change their own. Your changes do not inspire other people, they confront them.”
In one of her podcast episodes, Mel uses her husbands decision to stop drinking as an example to illustrate the above.
Check out the video below to better understand her own realization.

Wait, but why? 🤔:
Hangxiety: Why do you get so anxious after drinking?
HANGXIETY - the evil and often crippling anxiety experienced after drinking that makes you feel subhuman.
Just the thought alone is enough motivation to forever trade in White Claws for La Croixs.
So where does hangxiety come from?
It all boils down to chemistry.

Alcohol disrupts your brain's happy chemicals, like GABA, which creates a calming effect. While you're drinking, this feels great, but as the alcohol wears off, your brain scrambles to restore balance. Think back to our post covering Dopamine 🧠
This means less GABA and a surge of glutamate, a brain chemical linked to anxiety. This shift can leave you feeling jittery, worried, and on edge.
Dehydration also plays a role, which we dove in on last week. Alcohol disrupts your body's fluid regulation, leading to dehydration, which can worsen anxiety symptoms.
Most Proofers actually attribute ~hangxiety~ as the top reason for cutting back or stopping drinking. We haven’t done a survey on this yet, but maybe we should 👀

Healthy Habit 🌱:
The Power of the Pause: Checking In With Yourself for Alignment

Based on Mel’s observation about looking in the mirror, we thought we would give you a quick rundown on the power of checking in with yourself and how to best “look in the mirror.”
What: Between daily tasks, responsibilities, and the constant external noise, it's easy to lose sight of what truly matters to you. Checking in with yourself is the practice of pausing to assess your emotional, mental, and physical state in relation to your goals and values.
Why: Regular check-ins are crucial for staying aligned with your desired path. They allow you to identify any mismatches between your actions and aspirations. This self-awareness empowers you to make adjustments, course-correct when needed, and ensure your daily choices move you closer to the life you envision.
How: Cultivating a check-in habit doesn't require a grand overhaul of your schedule. Here are some simple ways to integrate it into your day:
The Morning Moment: Start your day with a quick reflection. Ask yourself: "How am I feeling today?" "What's one thing I can do today that aligns with my goals?" Just a few minutes of intention setting can make a big difference.
The Midday Micro-Pause: Feeling overwhelmed? Take a five-minute break. Close your eyes, take some deep breaths, and simply notice your thoughts and emotions. Are you feeling stressed? Exhausted? Identifying these feelings allows you to address them and refocus.
The Pre-Sleep Inventory: Before drifting off, spend a few minutes journaling. Reflect on the day's highs and lows. Did you stay true to your priorities? Jot down any insights or adjustments you want to make for tomorrow.
Beyond the Basics:
Find Your Check-In Style: Some prefer guided meditations, others enjoy journaling prompts. Experiment to find what resonates most with you. There's no one-size-fits-all approach.
Schedule It In: Treat check-ins like important appointments. Block out time in your calendar, even if it's just 10 minutes, to ensure it becomes a regular part of your routine.
Embrace the Power of "No": Check-ins can reveal situations that don't align with your values. Don't be afraid to say "no" to commitments or activities that drain your energy or steer you off course.
Remember, checking in with yourself isn't about judgment. It's about creating a space for self-compassion and understanding. By making it a regular practice, you gain the power to live a life that truly reflects your values and aspirations.
So, hit pause, reconnect with yourself, and watch your life transform into one of intention and alignment.

Protect your Headspace

As Mel mentioned, looking in the mirror isn’t always easy. Part of the problem is we need to unwind more and step away from our day to day lives more regularly. To do this, we need to disconnect.
Although Headspace has been around for a while, it remains one of our staples and is one of our favorite ways to disconnect for some self-reflection.
Instead of us explaining who they are and what they do, we figured we would let them.

Event Spotlight ⏸️:
