No Booze News 📈:

Athletic Brewing finally giving the O-line the love they deserve.

Athletic Brewing is taking a different marketing approach as they campaign in the college football arena.

They aren't focusing on the quarterback or the “popular positions.” They are focused on the glue of the team. The grinders. Or as they describe them… “The Game Changers.” The Offensive Line.

Why it matters: Because football, the sport that has historically been flooded with alcoholic beverage marketing dollars, is shifting to the world of N.A. and its right in front of us. Also, we also love to see the O-Line getting some love! It’s about damn time.

They’re one of us 🤝:

Ole Miss' football coach has a powerful message.

Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss’ head football coach, shares how “there’s a freedom in not feeling like you need a drink to celebrate a big win or get over a tough loss.”

Why it matters: Kiffin hasn’t had a sip of alcohol in 3.5 years. His remarks clearly show that his decision to stop drinking has elevated his ability to be the best version of himself.

"Not drinking is just a part of my journey to where I am now, which is as fulfilled as I've been in coaching, and as important as all of that, is having peace and rhythm in my life. “I'm still not perfect, still have my moments. But there's a freedom in not feeling like you need a drink to celebrate a big win or get over a tough loss. There's a freedom of not having to have acceptance of what some guy writes about you or what the fans think of you or if you're on the hot seat.

"There's just a freedom in knowing that it's going to be OK."

Lane Kiffin

The bottom line: Many experts are saying that Kiffin and Ole Miss are poised for an incredible season and he attributes that to his learnings on the importance of “letting go.”

"When you're making changes to be the best version of yourself, you learn to let go of control, to let go of your ego, to let go of the things that don't matter. Everything I ever wanted was on the other side of letting go, which is the exact opposite of how you think because you think you can't let go of anything. You're not trained that way, especially in football."

Wait, but why? 🤔:

Why does drinking leave us feeling unfulfilled?

Ever wonder why a night of drinking can be fun in the moment, but by the end, it feels like something's missing? It’s more than just the hangover. The real reason alcohol leaves us feeling unfulfilled is deeper than we think.

Why:

  • Numbs Authenticity: Alcohol clouds our true emotions, making it harder to form real connections. What feels like bonding is often just surface-level.

  • Instant Gratification: Sure, alcohol gives a quick buzz, but it’s temporary. Real fulfillment comes from deeper, more meaningful experiences—things alcohol can’t provide.

  • Disrupts Routine: Drinking can throw off your healthy habits, like exercising, mindfulness, or hobbies that actually contribute to long-term happiness.

  • Escapism Trap: Often, we drink to avoid problems. But fulfillment comes from confronting challenges head-on, not escaping them.

The takeaway: Cutting out alcohol helps us reclaim the moments and habits that bring lasting joy, growth, and real satisfaction.

Event Spotlight 🏈:

Introducing the Touchdown Tally Challenge.

There aren't many fun games to play while watching football that don't include drinking. So, we created a new game for you and your friends to try this weekend when football is on TV all day.

How to Play: Whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins.

  1. Set up the teams: Split your group into two teams (or play solo for a challenge).

  2. Create a point system:

    • Touchdown Prediction: Before each drive, everyone predicts if it’ll result in a touchdown. If you guess right, you get 3 points!

    • Play-by-Play Call: Call out what you think the next play will be (run, pass, interception, etc.). Get it right? 1 point for you.

    • Field Goal Challenge: Before the first snap of each drive, predict if the team will go for a field goal and if it’ll be good or not. Nail it? Score 2 points.

  3. Bonus Round: For every sack or turnover, the first person to yell “blitz!” gets 1 point.

  4. Game End Challenge: For halftime and the end of the game, predict the final score. Whoever’s closest gets 5 points.

Winner’s Reward: This is where the creativity juices can get flowing. What do you want to play for? 20 bucks? Bragging rights? Winner chooses where to order food from and losers cover their cost? Come up with something you all feel good about.

The bottom line: We hope this provides a fun alternative to keep your group engaged during the game without worrying about having to take a shot every time the 49ers score because Alpha Greg is peer pressuring you.
